Dr. Mark Scherer, a cosmetic surgeon in Appleton, Wisconsin, is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin Medical School. He completed a five year general surgical residency at Wayne State University in Detroit. His Plastic Surgery Fellowship was done there as well. He has been practicing a plastic surgeon in the Fox Valley since 1991.

The Cool Glide® laser system is FDA approved for permanent hair removal. Dr.Scherer has the only Cool Glide system in the Fox Valley. This laser is also very effective for the permanent removal of spider veins.

The Cool Glide has a longer wavelength than most systems and causes selective photo-thermolysis. Light energy is picked up by the pigment in the blood vessels or the pigment in the hair follicles and causes destruction of the blood vessels or the hair follicles. Because of the longer wavelength, this laser is safe for all skin types, including tan patients and patients of color.
